Mega Millions tickets are sold in 43 states plus the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The lucky moniker is usually one reserved for the number seven, but Otto changed that nickname to include the number eight. That victor will take home $540 million or a one-time cash pay-out of $380 million - both before taxes. Each of those tickets are worth $1 million.
