Assad's government had earlier indicated it would abide by the negotiated truce. He also said the Syrian government must allow deliveries of humanitarian aid into besieged areas, including the rebel-held districts of Aleppo. While the Syrian government and its allies have signed on to the deal, opposition forces have yet to formally respond. However, the al-Qaida linked insurgents are closely allied to many rebel factions and are a powerful force in the defense of Aleppo in particular. (more...)
