The US State Department has announced it is withdrawing funding for the United Nations Population Fund ( UNFPA ), the lead UN agency focused on reproductive health and family planning. Still, the memo acknowledged there was no evidence of United Nations support for forced abortions or sterilization in China. Two responding officers were treated for carbon monoxide exposure and released from the hospital. Emergency crews said a high level of carbon monoxide was detected near the area where the children were found. A carbon monoxide leak is believed to have killed one person at the Quality Inn & Suites in Niles, Michigan, on Saturday. The US Occupational Safety and Health Administration prohibits workers from being exposed to more than 50 parts averaged over an 8-hour period. (more...)
