The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has recommended that pregnant women avoid travel to 22 countries where there is active transmission of the Zika virus. The virus is spread through mosquito bites. The price of mosquito repellent has risen in Brazil, where Health Minister Marcelo Castro said Friday that a "war" against the Aedes aegypti type, which carries dengue, chicungunya and Zika, was failing. Severe disease requiring hospitalization is uncommon and case fatality is low.
