A demonstration to protest the recent killings of black men by police in Baton Rouge , Louisiana, and St. It initially appeared to eyewitnesses and police that multiple shooters were involved, but Johnson remains the only named suspect. That followed revised gains of 11,000 in May and 144,000 in April. Official figures show that the USA job market stirred into life in June as growth accelerated at the fastest rate since October after a two-month lull, assuaging fears of broader cutbacks by companies. Matt Harvey has made a decision to undergo surgery for thoracic outlet syndrome, a shoulder condition we learned about yesterday and for which the Mets placed Harvey on the disabled list on Wednesday. The American Petroleum Institute, an industry group, said late Wednesday that its own data for the same week showed a 6.7 million barrel decrease in crude supplies, according to market participants. Brent crude was down $2.22, or 4.3 percent, at $47.88 a barrel early morning. So the main response to falling gasoline cracks is likely to come through reduced refinery crude processing, which will cut the output of heating oil as well as gasoline. (more...)

Andrew Hunter, assistant economist at Capital Economist, said the latest jobs figures could bring forward the time when the Fed might act. The market, however, doesn't expect any increases until next year. Overall, the June jobs report should ease concerns of a coming economic slowdown, which grew stronger after the "Brexit" vote in Britain. The Atlanta Fed is now forecasting the economy growing at a 2.4 percent pace in the second quarter. (more...)

According to Tittel, while the Sierra Club thinks a boost to the gas tax is a good step, the A12 plan does not secure New Jersey's future enough to warrant passing it. While that measure passed the Assembly Monday night, it has less support in the Senate, also led by Democrats.
