In its annual "World Energy Outlook", released on November 10th, the IEA predicted that a relatively sluggish recovery in demand and decline in supply would yield a price of $80 a barrel in 2020. Also on Tuesday, two major oil bodies gave forecasts for lower oil prices. Oil slumped again on Friday, extending the week's loss to the largest in eight months, as swelling storage of crude on both land and sea pressured prices. (more...)

Oil price competition in Europe is set to intensify when Iranian crude returns to the market after sanctions on its nuclear program are lifted, the worldwide Energy Agency said. "The oversupply is also causing levels to rise outside the U.S". Crude stocks at the Cushing, Oklahoma, delivery hub rose by 2.237 million barrels, the biggest weekly increase since March, the EIA said. (more...)

The aircraft is Emirates' 68th A380 in its fleet (with 72 more on order) and was flown direct to Dubai Airshow from Airbus's German headquarters in Hamburg , so the guests to view the plane at the event were the first in the world. Emirates was the first airline to order the A380 and is the largest operator of the aircraft, carrying nearly 47 million passengers since 2008. Seven of 13 major retail categories showed gains last month, led by building-material stores, restaurants and non- store merchants, which include Internet sales, according to the report from the Commerce Department. All other segments declined including sales of food & beverage services which slipped 2.7 per cent over a year ago. A 0.9 percent drop in the value of sales at service stations, which reflected lower gasoline prices, also helped to restrain retail sales last month. (more...)

Imports in October fell 16.0% in yuan terms from a year earlier, compared with a 17.7% decrease in September. The trade surplus was 393.2 billion yuan ($86.9 billion). Five of the tanker cars released ethanol into the Mississippi, the company said. Only voluntary evacuations are underway in the immediate area. The Federal Railroad Administration will handle the investigation. Crews are working to clear a freight train derailment in western Wisconsin that spilled thousands of gallons of ethanol.
