Klopp has great expectations Liverpool will deliver

The first game of the season for Liverpool is almost upon us and I couldn't be more excited!

"And I think he'll do better and better for us because he's got great quality".

However, with his current deal tying him to Liverpool until 2022, and the Reds boss receiving significant financial backing during the recently closed transfer window, it seems Klopp plans to remain with the north west outfit for the long haul.

"Somebody told me we were the unluckiest team".

"We know the expectations; we have expectations as well", said Klopp.

It's still a huge ask to close a gap of 25 points but Liverpool have strengthened intelligently and only five points separated the two sides in the second half of 2017/208.

Salah and Mane's pain at worldwide level was Liverpool's gain as early exits at the World Cup with Egypt and Senegal meant they could join the club's pre-season tour of the United States, unlike a host of Premier League stars who returned to training just last week after their exertions in Russian Federation.

Two monumental errors by Loris Karius forced the club to bite the bullet and spend big for a top-class goalkeeper. You can see that.

It was Keita who impressed during his Anfield bow, with the Guinean midfielder playing a crucial role in Salah's opening goal after 19 minutes.

But after reaching the Champions League final in May and spending more than anyone else in the Premier League in the off-season, there is palpable belief that wait will come to an end in May. The Englishman's work ethic and overall play was hardly curtailed by the thick bandage around his head, concealing 15 stitches.

It's been six years since Liverpool last won a trophy but there's a feeling amongst the players and fans that that could change this season. What are your prospects for this season?

Liverpool had only eight players in World Cup action, compared to 16 for Man City, 14 for Chelsea and 12 for Man United.

'It's a similar style of play and a similar position to what he did at Leipzig. Many people have drawn comparisons with us and Everton last summer and it is important to avoid underachieving as much as they did. Naby is in because he's a really good footballer. The only problem was, Mane was clearly offside, and by the looks of the footage, the linesman had a pretty good view of the incident. That is the world Liverpool is in today. What are your thoughts about coming up against the likes of Firmino, Salah and Mané and how do you think you'll do to try and counter them? I'm pleased, absolutely, but actually that's what we expected.

"We can improve everything: we can improve our offensive game, we can improve our defensive game".

And finally, what's your score prediction for Sunday? We will see where it leads to. "I was just happy to keep the ball out the back of the net", he said.
