Liverpool 3-1 Torino: Reds end pre-season with victory at Anfield

Liverpool were beaten 3-1 by Real Madrid in the Champions League final

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed that he may have to be creative with his formation in his sides final pre-season game against Torino tomorrow as a defensive injury crisis takes hold.

While fitness levels are still being worked on and Klopp's starting XI for the opening game against West Ham on Sunday is unknown, it's clear that the German will have a strong team ready to face the Hammers.

After signing goalkeeper Alisson for £65 million last month, Klopp had said he thought the Brazilian would be Liverpool's last signing of the summer.

'For Raggy (Klavan) and Joel it is probably not good enough as they are not fit for the weekend but we don't need 12 centre halves'.

With West Ham visiting Anfield for the Premier League opener on Sunday, Klopp withdrew most of his first string, giving run-outs to the likes of Daniel Sturridge, Adam Lallana, Danny Ings and Marko Grujic, along with another off-season recruit, Xherdan Shaqiri.

Karius replaced new first-choice goalkeeper Alisson midway through the second half on Tuesday night, for his first outing at the Reds' stadium since the end of last season.

"I was not surprised, to be honest, but as a human being I was hoping for it, that it would be like this". It was a really big gesture'.

"When Manchester United visit Anfield in December, I'm sure they'll use every trick in the book to try to wind him up!" In his first session he looked like he trained the whole three weeks completely, ' said the Reds boss. "I don't know how we will do it".

"Today he looked at home, he looked comfortable and when he was called upon he made the saves he had to make, so long may that continue and that will give him more confidence than he has already got and hopefully that will stand us in good stead for the season ahead".
