Cleaning crew finds dead baby on American Airlines plane

Dead fetus reportedly found on plane at La Guardia Airport

A dead fetus was found aboard an American Airlines flight out of Charlotte on Tuesday morning, said an American Airlines spokesperson who asked not to be identified.

The shocking discovery was made around 7:30 a.m. local time in a hangar at LaGuardia Airport, the New York Post reported, citing police sources.

The discovery was made several hours after Flight 1942 touched down in NY from Charlotte, North Carolina. One of the attendants noticed a large amount of toilet paper in one of the plane's lavatory toilets.

The fetus was between three to six months along.

An under-developed fetus was discovered on an American Airlines flight at LaGuardia Airport.

The Queens District Attorney's office is looking into the matter, a spokeswoman confirmed to CNN, adding that they may have additional information to share Tuesday afternoon.

The airline warned customers to expect possible delays as it reshuffled its jets to accomodate the investigation.

The incident did not have any "major impact" on the airline's morning operations, according to the station.
