But these two elderly LADs have proved they're not growing up any time soon when they escaped from their nursing home to attend the world's biggest music festival. According to the German news outlet Deutsche Welle, authorities later located the senior headbangers at 3 a.m.at the Wacken Open Air festival, and apparently they were not ready to leave.

The men refused to leave so had to be escorted back to their nursing home in a taxi with a patrol auto following, reported Deutsche Welle. The Wacken Open Air festival in northern Germany began in 1990.

The nursing home contacted the police after they realized the two men were missing.

Police said the pair were discovered "disorientated and dazed" in the early hours of Saturday at Wacken Open Air.

2018 marked Wacken's 29th year, which took place in Schleswig Holstein.

A patrol auto accompanied the retirees back to the care home as a "precautionary measure", Der Spiegel reports.

"They obviously liked the metal festival", police spokeswoman Merle Neufeld told public broadcaster Norddeutscher Rundfunk.

A photo showing other elderly people rocking out at the festival was posted on Twitter.

The 4-day festival had an estimated 75,000 attendees during its sold-out event that included acts such as Danzig, Judas Priest and Hatebreed.
