Facebook testing dating feature, 'Create' button

Facebook is testing a new dating feature in its app, laying the ground for an enormous challenge for apps like Tinder, OkCupid, and Bumble.

A Facebook representative confirmed testing has kicked off, saying, "We are testing Facebook Dating internally (as we regularly do with new features), but we don't have anything more to share right now".

Facebook said in May it would launch a dating app, and now there is a glimpse of what that app will look like. Dogfooding this product is completely voluntary and has no impact on your environment. Instead of the traditional blue, it uses a soft, rosy red, with purple illustrations - perhaps an attempt to clearly differentiate it from the social network. Also, if you block someone on Dating, that person won't be blocked on Facebook too.

Participants in the test are being encouraged to use dummy data, and Facebook warns users that its policies regarding harassment apply to those testing the app. Aspiring yenta Mark Zuckerberg explained it was "going to be for building real, long-term relationships, not hookups".

Facebook is all set to take on mobile dating apps like Tinder and TrulyMadly.

Facebook dating feature will allow you to create a dating profile that is separate from your Facebook profile.

"We have designed this with privacy and safety in mind from the beginning". Unfortunately for Wong, it seems to be tested internally because while she could access the signup screen, she could not go further as it appears that Facebook isn't activating non-employee Dating profiles for now. Also, you'll be able to choose if you want the friends of your friends to see you as well.
