Courtois could leave Chelsea if he is not motivated, says Sarri

Chelsea fans are absolutely loving Callum Hudson-Odoi's performance against Arsenal

Speculation has been rife this summer that Courtois is angling for a return to the Spanish capital - where his children live - with Real Madrid heavily linked with a 35-million-euro move for the Belgium worldwide.

Maurizio Sarri will hold crunch talks with Thibaut Courtois about his Chelsea FC future this week, according to reports in the Spanish media.

Chelsea face Manchester City in the season-opening Community Shield on Sunday before travelling to Huddersfield Town for their Premier League opener six days later. But I hope that Courtois will be our goalkeeper'. "I'm so happy he came here". He is, however, expected to be fit by the time the Blues' 2018/19 Premier League season opener comes around.

Speculation over the South American's future has been rife ever since Barcelona and Manchester United showed interest in signing him and the fact that he had a delayed arrival post his summer vacation had sent the rumour mills into overdrive.

Asked if he expects the 29-year-old to be part of his midfield this season, Sarri said: "Yes I do. The match will be very hard for us", he said. It will also be his first experience of England's iconic stadium. For example, two years ago when we switched to three at the back then from the first day we were very good.

"I want to win, because it's very important to have a trophy immediately".

They go on to state that he is unlikely to force the issue before the window closes next Thursday, but will pursue a loan move in Europe if he is not playing regularly before August 31.

"The way we play is we attack forward, we defend high, we try to get the ball from them and then play our football".
