Whoops: UK Retailer Reveals New DJI Mavic 2 Before Official Release

DJI Mavic 2 drone leak confirms Pro and Zoom models

DJI was set to announce the new Mavic 2 on July 18th, but that event was unexpectedly postponed and the drone has yet to be officially unveiled. This is new for DJI, and also features on the latest drone from Parrot, the ANAFI. Both new models will offer up to 31-minute flight time and close to 8km range.

While we don't have much information on the Enterprise Edition variant, the Mavic 2 Zoom will include a 2x optical zoom lens that will be flawless for capturing close up shots while in the air, while the Mavic 2 Pro will ship with a Hasselblad camera that has a 1-inch sensor, but unfortunately, no zoom functionality. But the drone has already appeared in the latest catalog by the United Kingdom retailer Argos, and the listing reveals that it will be offered in "Zoom" and "Pro" versions.

Both models will also be able to transmit live 1080p videos across a distance of up to five miles and will each feature 360-degree obstacle avoidance (described as "omnidirectional obstacle sensing") in the form of DJI's Advanced Pilot Assistance Systems (APAS) and Active Track 2.0 (an updated version of DJI's auto-tracking technology). Dolly Zoom (zoom version only). That's what the print industry risks every day, and an error like printing an ad way out of schedule can lead to a Mavic mishap... just ask drone- and gimbal-maker DJI.

According to a blog post on DroneDJ, the German edition of the DJI website has accidentally uploaded a thumbnail image of what appears to be the DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise Edition. We don't know whether that reason is technical in nature - something that might mean the official products are slightly different to what's featured in the Argos catalog.

Photos of the Mavic 2 Enterprise Edition have surfaced before, but this is the first time people can see the bottom of it.

A spokesman for DJI said: "This pre-printed catalogue was scheduled before we postponed our "See the Bigger Picture" event". Once we get local pricing and available info we'll be sure to let you know.
