Celebrate #Fortnite1st Birthday, the Return of the Playground & New SMG - Fortnite

Fortnite New Compact SMG Coming to Fortnite

The megahit video game Fortnite is celebrating its first birthday-which is why you've probably been seeing #Fortnite1st in your social media feed today.

One of the tasks you need to do to complete the birthday challenges is to dance in front of 10 birthday cakes on the map.

You'll find the first Fortnite Birthday Cake in the north of Paradise Palms, just north of the town's border, just to the right of the road that runs through the center, on the sand. The event tasks players with completing challenges and quests, which will earn them access to special birthday cosmetics.

Developer Epic Games has stated via the Fortnite Subreddit that the battle royale birthday challenges will go live after 8pm EDT (5pm PDT, 1am BST) when the in-game store refreshes.

Fortnite reopens Playground Mode to celebrate its first birthday

Good question. Completing the birthday quest line in Save the World will earn you a new hero, Birthday Brigade Ramirez.

Playground Mode is making a comeback with a number of changes including the ability to switch teams and a significantly lower respawn time. Each slice gives players +5 health and +5 shield when eaten.

These challenges will be available when the Fortnite servers return from downtime tomorrow. Fortnite says this allows the player to "engage in close quarters combat with the high capacity, fast firing Compact SMG". This means that if you have full health and consume a Slurp, you will have nearly full shield with some patience.

Look out for the full list of changes in the 5.10 patch notes. Playground LTM will also be returning to the Battle Royal mode starting on Wednesday. Epic hasn't directly said how long it will stay this time around, but when it was taken down, it sure sounded like Epic plans to make Playground a full-time feature down the road.
