The Raptors are now co-favorites to acquire Kawhi Leonard

However, if a trade can't be worked out to send Leonard to Los Angeles, the Eastern Conference is a possibility as well.

Toronto has been linked to Leonard in recent days, with Tim Bontemps of the Washington Post stating the Raptors have "generated buzz" in a potential trade. The Raptors seem to be on the verge of a rebuild just two to three years out, and may not be as concerned about that as other organizations, perhaps making them willing to take the risk of overpaying for a rental in order to try to convince him to stick around. The pairing has produced plenty of regular-season success that hasn't translated in the playoffs.

The Toronto Raptors were the #1 seed in the East past year, but they were swept by the Cleveland Cavaliers for the second straight season. Boston and Philadelphia are the favorites to make the Finals, though adding Leonard could make the Raptors more competitive. Upgrade from DeRozan to Leonard, and the Drakes have a real shot to make the NBA Finals.

It may not be ideal for the Spurs, but it's one that would get the deal done.

It's probably a longshot, but it is interesting to see that Toronto is being talked about alongside National Basketball Association heavyweights like the Los Angeles Lakers - Leonard's preferred choice - the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers. The team reportedly isn't looking to rebuild after making the playoffs without their best player for nearly an entire season. The Raptors are now level with the San Antonio Spurs as betting favourites for where Kawhi Leonard will play in 2018-19, according to OddsShark. It hasn't yet been reported that Toronto has contacted San Antonio. The 76ers might not be able to get a deal done until they include former No.1 overall pick Markelle Fultz in a trade package. It has only been a few months, but it seems like this saga has been brewing for a billion years.

With all of the rumors swirling, one popular sportsbook now has the odds of Leonard landing with the Raptors the same as the odds of the star forward beginning next season with the Spurs.
