Celtics fan is remembered at funeral just as he lived

A New Orleans man was honored at his wake with some of his favorite things

In photos, Matthews is seen sitting upright in a chair while wearing a Kyrie Irving Celtics jersey and playing video games with a controller in his hand.

Matthews' family says he loved the Boston Celtics and playing video games.

The 18-year-old Renard Matthews of New Orleans, LA, was robbed and shot dead on June 25 while strolling with his dog.

The family of Renard Matthews wanted to remember him as he lived, honoring his memory in an unusual way at his wake. Kyrie Irving jersey and socks included, too. His favorite snacks, cereal, Barq's Root Beer and Doritos were placed on a side table next to him.

With the burial scheduled for Tuesday, hopefully close friends and family members of Renard were able to visit him over the weekend, as his life was celebrated in distinct fashion. We get used to seeing each other occupy certain spaces so I think there's something strangely handsome about wanting to see Renard Matthews in that chair, controller in hand, one last time.
