President Trump to Sign Executive Order Reversing Family Separation Policy

Newsroom Republicans scramble as public outcry peaks Fearful of voter reaction in November, GOP lawmakers meet

The administration has faced backlash this week for its zero-tolerance policy of separating migrant families illegally crossing the border.

But what impact will that have at the border?

"We are going to see what happens", Mr. Trump said. "But we also don't want families to be locked up in internment centers in America". We have zero tolerance for people that enter our country illegally.

It proposed that all immigrants apprehended should be criminally prosecuted under the country's criminal entry statute.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions has also defended the administration's controversial policy along with Kirstjen Nielsen, the secretary of homeland security, who gave a forceful explanation of the actions, arguing that it had no choice, reports The New York Times. "Children, especially those fleeing persecution, need safety and environments where they can thrive and play and be safe".

U.S. protocol prohibits children being detained because while with their parents are charged with a crime their children are not. -Mexican border is prompting calls for her resignation.

And children at the shelters were found to be "hysterical, crying and acting out".

May said she she "unequivocally" believed what the United States administration was doing on its border was "wrong".

In their letter, the attorneys general argue that the fundamental rights of children are expressed in state, federal and worldwide laws with an aim to protect their best interests. Other sites include temporary tent housing at sites in Tornillo, which can house 20 children and two adults. "Of the 12,000 children, 10,000 are being sent by their parents on a very unsafe trip, and only 2000 are with their parents, many of whom have tried to enter our Country illegally on numerous occasions".

The Anti-Defamation League, though, said the order is not a humane solution.

It does, but it's uncertain for how long.

The department has set up new facilities to manage the influx of children, and Wagner said they were prepared to expand as more children come into custody.

Trump on Wednesday signed an order order meant to end family separations at the border, a practice which has come under bipartisan and global criticism.

Trump went on to say that "if you're strong, [then] you don't have any heart", alluding to the criticism he's received about the child separations.

Videos of youngsters in cages and an audiotape of wailing children have sparked anger at home from groups ranging from clergy to influential business leaders, as well as condemnation from overseas.

It prompted church groups, politicians and children's advocates to criticise the policy of separating children from their parents as inhumane.

"Tomorrow we're going to have a vote on legislation that makes sure we can enforce our laws and keep families together", Ryan told reporters at a weekly press briefing.
