Oppo's Find X ditches the notch in favour of sliding camera array

If money is no object, would you get the OPPO Find X Lamborghini or the Porsche Design Mate RS? What do you think of the Oppo Find X? The smartphone features a 6.4-inch OLED HD+ display with 1080x2340 pixel resolution. The display looks similar to Galaxy flagships, but slightly better due to the lack of bezels. Oppo claims that it has dedicated 93.8-percent of the fascia to the display.

Open up the camera app, and switch to the front facing camera though, and an 8MP (f/2.0) will gracefully rise from the top of the handset. On its front, there's also a 25MP selfie camera that has been enhanced with AI-fueled algorithm and a set of additional sensors to help it deliver not only good selfie but also fast and secure face unlocking capability. The device has a dual 16 and 20-megapixel rear-facing camera and 1080P screen.

It appears that we've come full circle. Chinese manufacturer Oppo today revealed its new Find X, which shows Apple how it could eliminate the notch in style.

The phone will be available in two colours - Bordeaux Red and Glacier Blue - for €999 with the phone going on-sale in Europe in August.

But hey, maybe you won't worry about that when you find out that the AI will also make your selfies better! Your eye shouldn't be distracted, either, but gaps or holes.

There's a growing trend to offer increasingly bigger displays with a high screen-to-body ratio and bezels as slim as possible.

Camera The Oppo Find X flaunts a sliding camera mechanism.

Oppo is looking to cut those potential complaints off before they even have a chance to worry us, however. In terms of durability, OPPO says they've tested it to over 300,000 times. Price may vary according to the region the phone is bought in. The all-new Find X has been in the rumors mills from last few months. It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo. No headphone jack on this one, I'm afraid, and wireless charging is also absent. Instead, you can expect to use USB-C for both power and audio.

Some people love the notch, while others hate it. It also includes a 3D Structured light module, which can project 15,000 dots to build a complete 3D model of a user's face, with millimeter-level accuracy. That's then analyzed to identify the user's unique facial features. It has camera sensors up front or at the back. Hopefully it'll err on the side of realism rather than some of the more aggressive "beauty modes" we've seen on other recent smartphones. The same facial mapping technology will also give us Omoji which is similar to Animojis found on Apple iPhone X. Your typical fast charger would usually get you halfway there in that amount of time. Oppo says the "Y" design on the box comes from the auto light found on the Lamborghini Aventador vehicle.

The phone has 3D face unlock, which the company calls O-Face Recognition.

Oppo Find X has a motorised slider which opens and closes automatically to scan your face to unlock the phone. However, the speed in this case isn't about the processor, but the charging.

It is powered by a 3730mAh battery featuring VOOC flash charge technology which can charge the battery fully in 35 minutes.
