Kim Kardashian West Says Clemency For Alice Johnson 'Fulfilled My Heart'

Kim Kardashian on managing life as a newfound social justice activist and cosmetics queen

On Wednesday, Kardashian and a newly freed Johnson met for the first time.

"I did not know her name, I didn't know Kim", Alice Marie Johnson said on the "Today" show, moments after meeting Kardashian on the show.

Johnson and the "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" star sat down with "Today" anchor Hoda Kotb for an interview that will air during the Thursday's edition of the NBC morning show.

After spending 21 years in prison, Alice Marie Johnson, a first-time nonviolent drug offender who was given a life sentence without parole, was pardoned by President Trump after Kim Kardashian advocated on Johnson's behalf.

Kardashian West championed Ms Johnson's case, and even met with US President Donald Trump to discuss her release.

Kardashian West acknowledged that she has opposed Trump's policies in the past.

"I think that you guys are going to be connected for a long time."@HodaKotb talks to @KimKardashian and Alice Johnson in their first joint interview, as the two share what it was like to meet for the first time. I was dancing. I was jumping. "So under the new administration, I just believe this is part of the whole plan of God to show everybody that you can get a miracle from the least likely sources".

After learning of Johnson's commutation on June 6, Kardashian tweeted: "Best news ever!" I've lived it, I've walked with them, I've cried with them.

Later, when Kardashian West called with the clemency news, Johnson said she "went into a full-fledged, Pentecostal holy dance".

"I love this woman", Kardashian told her.

When asked why she chose to champion Johnson's cause outside social media, Kardashian, who first shared Johnson's story with her 60 million Twitter followers in November, said she had tunnel vision.

Meanwhile, Johnson's life was suddenly intertwined with one of the most famous stars in the world-one she had never heard of before. "And everyone was amazed and I was amazed too". "I started reading everything that I could about her. This has fulfilled my heart, and so since I feel so fulfilled, why would I stop that?'" "Love you, Alice!" Johnson was sent to prison in 1996, 19 years before Snapchat introduced the filter options.
