‘Avengers: Infinity War’ crosses $2 billion at the box office

That Marvel Studios standalone has amassed an astounding $699.3 million domestic, while Infinity War's domestic total now sits at $656.1 million.

The Marvel Studios blockbuster passed the $2 billion mark at the worldwide box office on Monday - its 48th day in theaters, Disney announced Tuesday. "But if you like 'Infinity War, ' there's some stuff to come".

It sounds like some fans may have taken Clint Barton/Hawkeye's absence from Avengers: Infinity War a little too seriously.

Internationally, Infinity War is the third highest grossing release ever with $1.346B. Its $257.7 million domestic opening weekend set a new record. They also speculate what would need to happen for it to surpass The Force Awakens globally and Black Panther domestically.

A still from Avengers: Infinity War. The highest domestic earner of all time is Star Wars: The Force Awakens with a total of $936,662,225. If Disney's acquisition of Fox goes through in 2019, it would mean the House of Mouse owns 3 out of the top 5 highest-grossing films of all time with Paramount's Titanic being the only exception. It's going to be a daunting task for Infinity War to outshine the grosses of other two films in China since the PRC moviegoers are gearing up for the release of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom on 15 June, followed by Disney/Pixar's The Incredibles 2 on 22 June.

These are just some of the box office records and Hollywood history book entries that Infinity War can lay claim to now, as the full list is just staggeringly long.

It is also the most successful Hollywood film ever released in India.

The film, directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, features a massive cast that includes Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Chadwick Boseman, Chris Pratt amongst many others. But as the marketing for "Infinity War" progressed, it became increasingly clear that Hawkeye will not play a part in the Avengers' initial bout against Thanos.
