Tetris Effect - Announce Trailer

Countdown to E3 2018 Announcements -Watch Reveal of New PS4 Game Live Here Today

Rather than the usual pre-show presentation, the company is doing daily reveals of games, and it's starting today with the announcement of Tetris Effect.

Tetris Effect is based on the real-life phenomenon by the same name which occurs when people devote so much time and attention to a specific activity that it begins to overrun their psyche.

The trailer for the game which you can watch below is a little odd but it points towards a puzzle game that offers a brand new take on Tetris.

The PS4 game with optional VR support comes from the studio Enhance, creators of "Lumines" and "Rez Infinite". A new "Zone" mechanic allows you to stop time and blocks from falling, allowing you to get the upper hand in getting out of a sticky situation that could end in game over (or simply giving you the chance to score even more line clears). The audio, background elements, special effects and even the Tetris pieces themselves dance, pulse, shimmer and explode in flawless sync based on how you are playing.

Almost 35 years after its initial release, Tetris is still one of the best, most addictive games there is, but is it still possible to do something new with the venerable puzzle series?

Fully playable on either a standard display (up to 4K and 60fps on a PS4™Pro), or optionally in mind-blowing 3D on PS VR.

Fan-favorite modes like Marathon, Sprint and Ultra will also return alongside new modes and features that will be revealed at a later date.

Tetris Effect is due to release autumn 2018.
