IOS 12: How to enable quiet notifications on iPhone and iPad

Apple senior vice president of Software Engineering Craig Federighi speaks at the Apple Worldwide Developer conference.

Tim Cook has said Apple never took data from Facebook, after reports that Facebook granted more than 60 smartphone makers access to people's information.

"As with all Apple software updates, enhanced privacy and security remain a top priority in iOS 12", Apple said in a statement.

Apple also announced some other small related features, like setting end times for Do Not Disturb when you leave a location or when event ends, as well as adjusting notification settings for apps right from the Notification Center (without going into the Settings). "We've all seen these like buttons and share buttons", he said.

When Apple releases the new iOS 12 update, you'll be able to use the group FaceTime feature with up 32 simultaneous participants.

After years of working to make the smartphone indispensable ― some might even say addictiveApple said Monday that it will soon provide an app created to help people step away from the iPhone.

Facebook of course depends heavily on advertising revenues (assisted by tracking tools) to fund its free service, but Apple's decision means it is no longer willing to allow its platforms to be used in this way.

Reportedly when apple users surf the internet using the Safari browser, a permissions pop-up will appear asking "Do you want to allow "facebook.com" to use cookies and website data while browsing [this site]?"

You can set per-app or overall-usage time limits, manage app access for other users (such as children), set up warning pop-ups when you're close to hitting a preset usage time limit, and more. They include limiting "fingerprinting", which gives data collectors the ability to tell one Apple computer from another.

Part of the reason iOS 12 is able to support phones as old as the iPhone 5s is because of a software adjustment that ramps the phone up to its full performance potential as needed (e.g. when you're loading an app) and then brings it back down more quickly to preserve battery.

Apple and Facebook have of course clashed previously. Although Apple didn't make this announcement on its WWDC 2018, according to the source 9to5mac, iOS 12 soon let you register an "alternative appearance" for Face ID. We've never been in the data business.
