Putin tells Assad 'all foreign troops' will leave Syria

Syrian forces stand on the rubble of damage buildings in al Hajar al-Aswad Syria

Both Damascus and Moscow said the Syrian army had managed to shoot down more than half of the missiles.

The last push on the Yarmouk camp came after a group of civilians was evacuated overnight.

Syrian state TV broadcast footage of tanks rolling through a shattered neighborhood once held by rebels, as government troops waved the national flag.

A temporary humanitarian ceasefire had been in place since Sunday night in Al-Hajar al-Aswad to allow women, children and old people to leave the area, state media said early on Monday.

Israel has been acting as a de facto air force of the militants for some time but its extensive raids on May 10 were its most brazenly direct engagement in Syria's fight on terrorism.

This is a reference to the still ongoing but thorny Astana, Kazakhstan centered talks involving Russia, Turkey, and Iran which has been by and large rejected by the vast majority of anti-Assad fighters, especially due to Iran's contentious role as a main guarantor of the deal.

The al-Hajar al-Aswad District is seven kilometers to downtown Damascus.

The spokesman went on to say that within the framework of the first joint commission of the JCPOA, which is expected to be held without the United States presence in the coming days at Iran's request, Tehran and the remaining sides will only discuss the JCPOA and the issues related to the deal.

Tension has been running high along the Syrian border amid Israeli accusations the Iran and Shia Hezbollah group have been building up a military presence in war-torn Syria.

The official says the cease-fire ends at noon on Monday, after which government forces will resume their operations in the Hajar al-Aswad and the nearby Palestinian refugee camp of Yarmouk.

The extremists have been driven from almost all the territory they once held in Syria and neighbouring Iraq, but still maintain a presence in remote areas along the border.

Iran and Russian Federation have joined forces in Syria, providing crucial military support to Assad's forces and giving them the upper hand in the civil war.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad paid an unannounced visit to Vladimir Putin on Thursday evening at the Russian president's summer home in the Black Sea resort city of Sochi where the two leaders discussed the process for winding down the war in Syria, and notably the reduction of foreign troop presence in the country.

"No one will extract us from Syria".

He stressed that those who have entered the Syria without the permission of its government should leave.
