NY nanny sentenced to life in prison for killing two children

Marina first talked about the couple's only surviving daughter, Nessie, who was 3 when her siblings were killed.

"The defendant may think she destroyed Lulu and Leo, but she is a failure in this, too". She has never shed a tear for these children. "I wish my family had told them that I did not feel well", she said through a Spanish-English interpreter.

Marina Krim said that after she testified at Ortega's trial, "I wasn't planning on coming back into this courtroom after that", but, she added, "I'm here once again to finish this frightful chapter in my and my family's life". "What is wrong with them?" The children's mother found them in a bathroom. But when they arrived, Lulu wasn't there.

"Get me out of here".

"The defendant is an evil and utterly unsafe narcissist", he said.

The conviction, which carries a mandatory sentence of life without parole, sealed her fate of never seeing the light of day as a free woman.

He said the only way he and his wife survived their nightmare was through the love of others. "We believe that the 10 Principles of Creativity can help children across this city and this country build the social-emotional skills and resilience to thrive no matter what the world throws at them".

"We could not find a strongly credible proof that the defendant was not aware and able to recognize what was going on", Curtis said. She cried and asked for forgiveness from the family of Kim. Kevin Krim, a digital media executive at CNBC, believed hiring the nanny was necessary, he testified, because he was working 12-hour days. Disclosing a sentence, the civil servant has called Ortega a "pure evil".

Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance attended the sentencing, as well as at least nine jurors and alternates from the trial.

Ortega claimed to hear the voice of the devil and was following his instructions. "I see blood all over her".

During her sentencing hearing, Kevin Krim, the children's' father, called Ortega a "malignant narcissist" and said she wanted to put him and his family through the pain of a trial.

"I'm very sorry for everything that happened, but I hope that no one goes through what I have gone through", 55-year-old Ortega said through tears.

Kevin also testified in heartbreaking detail about learning that two of his children were dead and seeing their bodies at the hospital.

The nanny's lawyer had argued that Ortega was mentally sick and could not be held liable for the youngsters's deaths.
