Clayne Crawford Congratulates 'Lethal Weapon' After Renewal

According to a press release from Fox, the network's TV reboot of the Mel Gibson-Danny Glover buddy-cop film franchise has been renewed for a third season, with the "American Pie" alum added to the cast to replace Clayne Crawford, who was sacked from the show over unspecified abusive behaviour on the set.

Fox have announced that Seann William Scott (American Pie) will be the replacement actor to star alongside Damon Wayans.

'Seann is a fantastic addition to this already incredible cast, ' Fox Entertainment president Michael Thorn told The Hollywood Reporter. "'Lethal Weapon' is packed with action, drama and pure fun and we can't wait to see Damon and Seann together on screen".

Television added that the studio had "decided not to renew Clayne Crawford's contract for 'Lethal Weapon, '" following incidents of bad behavior on the Fox action drama's set, for which he apologized.

Just a few weeks ago, a third season pick up seemed like a no-brainer following a sturdy performance in the ratings. Zero communication with Fox or Warner Bros. "Furthermore, I apologize to all the crew and cast for any negative attention Lethal Weapon is receiving because of these incidents", he said.

Crawford praised all of his collaborators and insisted he would never intentionally jeopardize other people's jobs by causing the network to consider canceling the show. The cast includes Wayans, Keesha Sharp, Kevin Rahm, Jordana Brewster, Johnathan Fernandez, Dante Brown, Chandler Kinney, Michelle Mitchenor and now Scott.

Instead, Fox has hired American Pie and Road Trip actor Seann William Scott in his first series-regular TV role to join the show. I wasn't that jazzed about Lethal Weapon 3 or 4, so the prospect of a procedural reboot wasn't doing much for me.
