DeWine wins Republican primary for Ohio governor

Mike DeWine will be facing off against Democrat Richard Corday in November for OH governor, according to the Associated Press.

Cordray has said that we need to fix issues with sexual harassment in the workplace.

With below 5 percent of precincts reporting, Cordray and his running mate Betty Sutton captured a dominating majority, with over 60 percent of the vote.

Cordray grew up in Grove City, Ohio in a middle-class family.

Taquia Jones, 40, a personal protection consultant from Columbus, was finding the choice between Kucinich and Cordray tough.

The Democratic primary for governor pits former Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) Richard Cordray against former U.S. Congressman and two-time presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich.

Cordray's victory buoys Democratic hopes of reclaiming control of a critical battleground state, where Kasich is term-limited.

"What's important for us to do is to present a vision and to give people confidence that we can get results for them and improve their lives", he said.

On the Democratic side, Cordray, one of the frontrunners early on in the race for the Democratic nomination, has come out victorious on primary election day.

A state senator and a former Ohio Supreme Court justice also competed.

The 71-year-old DeWine served two terms in the U.S. Senate. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and several major labor unions, dominated across OH, even in Kucinich's home of Cuyahoga county. The Kasich administration she now serves supports the extended insurance benefits, which were made an option for states under the federal health care law.
