New York City gas tops to $3 a gallon

Pain at the pump: Average price of gasoline nears $3 per gallon

BP on the corner of Morris Street and Ridgedale is selling for $2.95 a gallon and the Shell on Morris Street & Olyphant Place is reporting $3.05 a gallon.

Average price for regular self-service unleaded gas was $2.85 per gallon, which is 50 cents more expensive than it was this time a year ago.

Pump prices rose in 35 states last week and fell in 15, much improved over the prior week when prices rose in every state.

The price in Rhode Island has increased 32 cents since the middle of March. The national average has increased 14.5 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 46.5 cents per gallon higher than this day one year ago.

Cass and Clay Counties have some of the lowest prices in the nation, averaging at about $2.50 for unleaded, which has drivers in Fargo thanking their luck stars.

Shelby County has the lowest gas prices at $2.56.

"Preliminary projections had gasoline averaging around $2.75 this summer", Jenkins said on Monday.

$2.49/g in 2017, $2.35/g in 2016, $2.80/g in 2015, $3.93/g in 2014 and $3.71/g in 2013. Much will depend on his decision on the subject. Killing the deal may inflict more pain on motorists as it may lead to sanctions placed on Iran and their oil production, which would likely push oil prices higher.

Gas prices around the country have creeped up, mostly due to continuing efforts to switchover stocks to the more expensive summer blend to meet federal mandates by June 1.

DeHaan expects that these possible moves in the oil industry are factors that will affect the gas prices and that motorists should expect the national average to be almost $3 a gallon during the summer.
