Big blow to PDP: Ali Modu Sheriff group fuses with APC

"Where an application is refused, the applicant may, as of right, appeal to the Local Government Area Executive Committee of the party or to the National Secretary or National Chairman in case of online registration".

And the ceremony was held at the APC national secretariat in Abuja, contrary to the statement by the publicity secretary that they should join the party in their wards.

Thirty-four state chairmen of the Ali Modu Sheriff-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday formally defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), in what political pundits termed a big blow to the Uche Secondus led PDP.

"We are aware of the well articulated plan and we are ready to defend any attempt towards destroying our party at the ward level and in any state - not just Borno".

In his reponse on behalf of the defectors, senator Gada, said: "We have joined the party to make it a formidable fighting force not only in Nigeria, but in Africa".

"We have read news on the Social Media yesterday evening and in some National dailies this morning, that the former Governor of our State, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff will be received by our National Chairman today at the Headquarters of our great Party".

The defectors were led to the APC National Secretariat, Abuja by Dr Cairo Ojougboh where they were received by the National Chairman of APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun.

The official vehicle of the State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki was also sighted at the VIP wing of the airport, as it was gathered that he was also on his way from Abuja.

The APC deployed all the repressive apparatus to capture Bayelsa by hook or crook in 2016 but we deployed People's power to reelect Governor Seriake Dickson, a performing Governor, a visionary leader and leader of the party in the state.

´´We are here, officially, to let everyone know that we are now collapsing into APC.

"I want to commend you for taking this bold step because some of you have never known any other party except PDP".

The governor said the APC had shown Nigerians and the Ijaw people that it (APC) had no agenda to make progress possible. Therefore, you who have come today (yesterday) and those who form the party now have the same status.

"We have remedied certain things that would have been an impediment to you and so, the doors are open".

Gov. Umar Ganduje of Kano state, who also spoke at the occasion, said the defection was historic because the most accepted faction of the PDP joined APC.

"There is no better history we can learn from than what is happening today".

As regards the 2019 elections, Dickson assured party members not to panic as the PDP remained intact and would ensure the defeat of the APC in the state.
