When Google search was confused about 'India's first PM'

Narendra Modi: Latest news and Top stories of PM Narendra Modi | Photos & Videos - Times of India

You just go to Google, type your query and you have your results that are accurate, at least the first few ones. But that's not always the case, as noted by some Twitter users.

And this was not the only faux pas, it seems Google picked pictures of current position holders for searches about "india first finance minister" and "india first defence minister" as well. While the error has been rectified and now no picture comes alongside Nehru's name, Twitterati was left in splits while commenting on the error. Once getting concerned about the fact that the fake news and misinformation is costing us, at around 11 am IST on April 26, Google got its act together and removed PM Modi's photo from the descriptor of Jawaharlal Nehru.

When the issue got highlighted, several Twitter users started posting their reactions along with the screenshots. According to Google, the image search results were drawn from multiple news articles with images of PM Modi and his statements with regard to politicians with a criminal background. It also rightly mentions the name of Rajendra Prasad, when you type "India First President".

This has definitely raised our eyebrows on why Narendra Modi's image appears when we search for "India First PM".

This is not the first time the world's most-used search engine showed Modi's photo under a wrong search query. Some of them were quick to blame Google for the "error", some took it with light humour.
