Princess Charlotte's wave upstages the new royal baby

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge pose on Lindo Wing steps with their new son

Princess Charlotte arriving at the Lindo Wing at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington, London to see her new sibling.

Prince William, who drove himself in a Range Rover to the London hospital, first got Prince George out of the vehicle.

As she walked up the steps, she turned to the hundreds of photographers, posed and waved. The adorable toddler was accompanied by his nanny, Barbara Barnes, at that time.

Arbiter said in an interview with Town & Country magazine that all family members would want to meet the baby before the name was announced.

Princess Charlotte and Prince George have since left the Lindo Wing but will continue to bond with the newborn tonight at the family's 22-room Apartment 1A at Kensington Palace.

Visited by uncle Prince Harry and soon-to-be aunt Meghan Markle shortly after their arrival home, there will be little time for nesting - not only is there a royal wedding just a few weeks away, there is also a royal christening to be planned, with the likes of Meghan Markle, Peter Phillips and Diana's sisters, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Lady Jane Fellowes, being tipped as potential godparents.

George, dressed in blue shorts, a white collared shirt, a blue pullover, long blue socks and black bar shoes, was given a reassuring a kiss on the forehead by the duke. But, these concerns proved unfounded as Princess Charlotte lavished the media attention. "The turn back and wave to the cameras as they entered the Lindo Wing was EVERYTHING", tweeted one person.

It looks like Charlotte is totally owning her place in line for the throne.

Both William and George ignored the cameras, but two-year-old Princess Charlotte was more than happy to oblige. The royal trio were greeted by press and fans alike as they eagerly awaited Kate Middleton and the debut of her third child.

But unlike Prince George, Princess Charlotte and their younger brother were photographed leaving the hospital with a bonnet over their heads.

And it was no different when she arrived all smiles to meet her new baby brother in hospital.
