Play-offs: Raptors go 2-0 up after record points high

For the first time in nearly 17 years, the Toronto Raptors are off to a winning start in a playoff series.

The Wizards cut a 100-90 deficit with 7 minutes 52 seconds left to 108-103 on back-to-back 3-pointers by Scott and Lawson, and a pair of free throws from Wall.

The Toronto Raptors did not hold a practice with media availability on Wednesday.

However, the old saying says, "The series doesn't start until the home team loses". Defensively, the Wizards are yielding 106.0 points per game.

This regular season, Toronto was 1-1 at Washington. But the Raptors' defense came up big at certain points. Kyle Lowry had 13 points and 12 assists, Delon Wright tallied 11 points and Serge Ibaka registered 10 points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots for Toronto, who set a franchise record for points in a play-off game. We were great defending, helping each other as well as with screens.

"We are shooting ourselves in the foot coming out to slow starts and allowing guys to get open 3s and allowing guys to get those shots and layups", Wizards guard Bradley Beal said.

"I'd rather you not tell me about it, just like the last two minutes report".

"Everybody has played 82 games this year, that is how many you are supposed to play; but at the same time, it does wear on you, you do get exhausted".

But Toronto slammed the door with a rapid burst of scoring to take the game away from the Wizards for good as the clock wound down. The Wizards bench scored just 21 points in Game 1 and many people figured that if they contribute more in Game 2, the Wizards could pull the upset. "We have to pay more attention to detail and know where their shooters are at all times".

"He showed offensive toughness", Raptors coach Dwane Casey said of DeRozan.

Wonderful. That's been the story all year.

The Celtics knew they'd need their younger players to step up this postseason with Kyrie Irving sidelined for the postseason.

Holding pace: Things were more even in the second quarter, as the Raptors narrowly won the quarter 32-31, despite Washington shooting 65 percent in the frame. Washington is 11-22 all-time in playoff openers on the road. The Wizards must play at their optimal level for a chance to beat superior opponents. -8 matchup is no different than any other. We haven't done nothing yet,"DeRozan said in a post-game interview on NBA TV".

"They're No. 1 for a reason".

The Washington Wizards haven't produced a 50-win season since 1978-79. Saturday's setback was a lost opportunity, but all isn't lost entering Tuesday's contest. That led to me passing the ball more a little more [in Game 1]. We had opportunities, several opportunities, to win tonight and close it out but we didn't.

Their goal remains the same - win at least one game in Canada. If Wale was watching last night's game, it would be entertaining to see the "Fashion Week" rapper switch roles with Drake, but we'll have to wait and see. "They had the homecourt advantage and they definitely used that to the best of their ability in that game". "Worry about Game 2".

"We were in a situation where we were up two going to Atlanta, they took care of home court".
