The ranking was done on the preliminary research traffic and the passenger traffic results for the most traveled airports in the year 2017 which was released by the airports authority of India. Growing rapidly in relatively short period of time, India is poised to be one of the largest aviation markets in the world in the years to come, the ACI said. The top three in total worldwide air cargo traffic were Hong Kong, Memphis Tennessee and Shanghai airports.
