He is the subject of at least three sex crime investigations by London's Metropolitan Police.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department presented a sexual assault case against Kevin Spacey to the District Attorney last Thursday, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

Following Rapp's accusations, Kevin Spacey responded in a fashion that many found offensive-choosing then to publically come out as a gay man after years of silence about his sexuality.

"The occasions had been reported to have taken place in October of 1992 in West Hollywood involving a male grownup", she added.

Spacey (58) became embroiled in controversy a year ago when actor Anthony Rapp accused him of trying to seduce him in 1986 when Rapp was 14. The Oscar-winning actor was accused of sexual assault by a number of men during the #MeToo movement, leading to authorities in both the USA and the United Kingdom - where he often worked - opening criminal investigations against him. Spacey was 26 at the time.

Last November, Spacey's publicist said in a statement that the actor was "taking the time necessary to seek evaluation and treatment". The Old Vic theater said it has received 20 allegations of inappropriate behavior involving him.

Spacey is also under scrutiny for allegedly grabbing an 18-year-old man's genitals in a Nantucket, Massachusetts, bar in 2016.

Since reports have emerged about his alleged assaults, Spacey was removed from a film he was starring in, All the Money in the World, and was subsequently fired from the final season of House of Cards.

Plummer later earned Golden Globe and Oscar nominations for his role.

Mashable has reached out to Spacey's representatives for comment.
