Sri Reddy, a Telugu actress in news for the last few weeks for talking about casting couch in Tollywood, staged a odd semi-nude protest at the Movie Artists Association (MAA) office in Hyderabad on Saturday. The actress was seen protesting in front of Film Chamber at Filmnagar.
Sri Reddy was later taken to a police station.
She sat down in front of the Movie Artistes Association office and alleged that local talent and Telugu heroines were not being given chances, while heroines from other languages were being roped in for Telugu movies.
The actress has been now taken into Police custody. "Not just you, if anyone demeans Telugu actors, they too will face the same fate".
She also alleged that she was demanded nudes by several film personalities if she wants a role which she did.
He added that the Executive Committee of the MAA is meeting on Sunday morning to discuss about the Sri Reddy membership issue.
Earlier this week, Reddy, in a Facebook post, had alleged that a top director used to "roam around" near her house and used to harass several women and ask for video calls. She went on to declare that despite having sent nude videos on filmmaker's requests, she has not been given roles - "They see the videos and give no roles".
Telangana Today reported, "We reached the spot soon after receiving information and shifted her from there".
She had threatened to reveal the names of the sexual predators in the industry, but didn't.
Talking about the manner of her protest, the actress said, "This is the only way I can think of expressing my grief".
A few days ago actress Rakul Preet Singh was slammed by fellow actresses for denying the existence of casting couch in Telugu film industry. She arrived at MAA office in a plain chudidhar. Kammula said he lives by his character and dies by it. As per ANI's tweet, she has stated that she has not been given a fair chance at work. "We'll take action after watching CCTV footage".
