Missing Teen Taken by 45-Year-Old Married Man Found in Mexico

Authorities have tracked down the Pennsylvania high school student missing with a 45-year-old family friend in Mexico, and the teen girl is on her way to being reunited with her family.

Esterly is now being held in Miami pending extradition to Pennsylvania, where he is expected to face the charge of interference with the custody of a child, said The Morning Call.

Soon after they were found in Mexico, Allentown police released a statement confirming Amy Yu was "unharmed and in good health." . An Amber alert and an global search ensued, and the pair returned to the United States under vastly different circumstances on Saturday. The couple's four girls range in age from 2 to 14, and Kevin Esterly said he could be like a father figure to her, according to the report.

The two reportedly began a romantic relationship several months ago and planned their escape to Mexico to be together.

Yu's mother, Miu Lu, became suspicious of the relationship in February, confronted Esterly and notified authorities.

- February 15: Allentown police investigators visit Esterly and his wife, Stacey, at their Allentown home and advises them both to stay away from Yu and that the girl's mother didn't want them to have any further contact with her.

According to officials, at approximately 10:30 a.m. Saturday authorities located Amy Yu and Kevin Esterly in Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, Mexico. Allentown police held a news conference on Friday to say the teen willingly went with Esterly, a father of two.

On March 5, the pair are believed to have left Allentown in a 1999 Red Honda Accord with Pennsylvania plates. When police find the Esterlys there, officers tell the Esterlys to go and never come back. "She wants Amy home with her mom, that is what she has always wanted".

Esterly had known Amy for at least eight years, having met her family through a Lowhill Township church.

Mauser said the school is working closely with both Allentown police and the Colonial Regional Police Department, which has jurisdiction of the area where the school is located.

Yu and Esterly were in a "secretive relationship" which was laid bare in text messages between them which her mother discovered on her phone. Both Esterly and the teen are on their way back to the United States.

Esterly had signed the girl out of school 10 times since November without her family's permission, acts made easier by the fact that she had listed him as her stepfather on emergency-contact forms, according to CNN. When he is returned to Pennsylvania, he will be charged with interference of the custody of a child, which is a felony.

"[Stacey is] very happy and relieved", Waldron said. Her brother reportedly said she took off.
