The Samsung Galaxy S9 doesn't offer better battery performance over its predecessor

Samasung Galaxy S9 and S9

Those are the major highlights for the 2018 Samsung Galaxy S9 and its larger sibling the S9 Plus.

The phone will also go live via Flipkart from March 6th. "Not only do the Galaxy S9 and S9+ enable consumers to shoot great photos and videos anywhere, it's a smartphone that's created to help them connect to others and express themselves in a way that's unique and personal to them". DisplayMate and DxOMark, two of the most respected names in smartphone testing, have put the Galaxy S9's display and camera through a litany of paces, and the results might surprise some Apple fans.

The Pixel 2 is on sale for £629/$599 for the 64GB model and £729/$779 for the 128GB version. The S9 Plus is 15 grams heavier, 0.4mm thicker, and 0.3 mm wider than the S8 Plus. You can argue whether the ability to turn your phone into a PC is a worthwhile experience, but the fact of the matter is, Samsung is thinking of the phone in ways Apple isn't. The dual camera might be the reason for that, but it's a sore point for S9 buyers.

This won't mean a great deal to most of us, but what it does highlight is Samsung seem to have made what was already an incredible display even better. Huawei and HTC both held off on announcing any new phones, while LG opted to reveal the most minor of upgrades to its six-months-old V30 flagship.

Quad HD+ resolution makes everything on the screen look gorgeous and crisp, with the colours popping out brightly thanks to the SuperAMOLED technology. The Korean company has left no stone unturned to ensure that its new phones have the world's best smartphone camera.

Performance-wise the Galaxy S9 should offer a 30% increase in efficiency and 20% in performance.

Those on the lookout for a new high-end device may want to wait until next week when the Galaxy S9 reviews are due. There's 6GB RAM on-board and it is also powered by Exynos 9810 octa core processor. There is also a much quicker fingerprint training process on the S9 Plus that seems to make unlocking the device more consistent as well. It sports that 5.8-inch display, along with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset inside, with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Up front, the device features an 8-megapixel lens with autofocus and Auto HDR. The Bixby app (virtual assistant) has a number of updates, it'll be able to count calories in food through photos and provide faster real-time translation, but what is the need of doing all that stuff when nobody cares about Bixby.
