Wanted Indian Mujahideen terrorist arrested

Ariz Khan, an alleged Indian Mujahideen operative arrested by the Delhi Police, was married to a Nepali Hindu woman, who later converted to Islam, and had managed to get citizenship of Nepal through fake documents, police said. He was involved in many bombing incidents including 2008 Delhi serial blasts, 165 people died in incidents he was involved in. It was then Khan and his associate moved in and out in buses across Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Maharashtra.

Khan played a "pivotal role" in Delhi serial blasts of September, 2008.

An expert bomb maker, conspirator and executioner, Khan was wanted for his involvement in a number of bomb blast cases - 2007 UP blasts, 2008 Jaipur serial blasts, 2008 Delhi serial blasts, 2008 Ahmedabad blasts and he had also escaped from Batla House encounter.

Commenting on the arrest of the dreaded Indian Mujahideen, DCP (Special cell) PS Kushwaha confirmed the reports of the arrest of the terrorist. Ariz Khan was arrested by the Delhi Police's Special Cell. He has been on the run since the September 2008 Batla House encounter.

It was learnt that the outfits were sourcing new recruits as many of their top leaders were already arrested by police.

Accordingly, a team under ACP Govind Sharma laid a trap and nabbed Khan near the Sharda Inter College in Banbasa on Tuesday evening.

Kushwaha said that after Khan escaped from Batla House, he remained in India for a month before fleeing to Nepal. Sarah's original name was Pamma and the 28-year-old was earlier married to a Pakistani and lived in Qatar with him before her marriage fell apart and she returned to Nepal. He had planned to teach them a lesson and planted IEDs across the Lucknow, Varanasi and Faizabad courts which killed 15 dead, police said.
