The incident forced authorities at the airport to partially closed the taxiway occupied by the aircraft, although operations resumed as normal shortly afterward.
This marks the second time this winter that Southwest has cancelled flights over de-icing fluid issues at Midway.
Southwest confirmed that canceled about 220 flights and has offered refunds or flight vouchers to passengers of the canceled flights.
