Bournemouth bounce back to stun Arsenal on south coast

Alexis Sanchez

"I left him at home".

The Chile global has refused to sign a new Arsenal contract with his current deal expiring in the summer, and United and City are reportedly both keen on recruiting him this month.

It is a big indication that his proposed move away from the Emirates is in the offing, and comes hot on the heels of Arsene Wenger's admission that Sanchez definitely won't sign a new deal with the north Londoners. "He could have moved yesterday, today - that's why I decided not to do it [play him]".

Mesut Ozil is also absent from the Arsenal squad, as Alex Iwobi and Danny Welbeck start alongside Alexandre Lacazette in the Gunners' front three.

A breakdown quoted by the Guardian states that Manchester City had lodged a £20m bid for the Chilean, but Arsenal informed City's hierarchy that it would take at least £35m for the player to conclude the deal.

With his contract running out this summer, Arsenal fans had been wishing that their marquee player will sign an extension but Sanchez has been holding for weekly wages of about £400,000 which Arsenal are in no mood to agree upon.

"At this stage, I don't think it's about the market", said Mourinho, whose United host Stoke City on Monday. Sanchez wants to be around players who are as good as him, maybe even some that he believes are better than him.

"I don't know ethical or correct, the word we can find to be speaking about players of other clubs, if somebody speaks of one of my players to say we are interested, I wouldn't be very very happy".

Hector Bellerin fired Arsenal into a second-half lead on the south coast, only for Callum Wilson and Jordon Ibe to pounce and turn the game on its head. "I feel I shouldn't say much more than this".

"I'm not the kind of blind manager, blind in the sense of this player is untouchable, this player we can never sell, I think every player has a price".

"If we do something now we don't need to do in the summer again".

"We like our squad, we believe in our squad - it's just about improving it in a balanced way".
