Brilliant Kyrgios too good for Dimitrov

Nick Kyrgios is looking to block out all the positive talk around his chances at the Australian Open

Casting aside any concerns over injury following his Brisbane International crown, Kyrgios reaffirmed his commitment to Australia's campaign opener on the same court in less than a month.

The third-seeded Australian, the World No. 21, defeated world No.3 Dimitrov in one hour and 33 minutes, reports Efe.

Nick Kyrgios overcame pain in his knee to beat Australian compatriot Matthew Ebden 6-7 (3) 7-6 (5) 6-2 in his first singles match since a hip injury ended his season in October.

Teenage wild-card entry Alex De Minaur followed up his upset victory over Milos Raonic with a routine 6-4, 6-0 win over Michael Mmoh to reach his first tour-level semifinal.

"Coming here all week I felt right at home".

The top seed broke in the sixth game to win the first set in 30 minutes.

"I was just seeing the rule and where line is. How long can you go for?", Kyrgios said.

De Minaur, ranked 208 in the world, lost 4-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 to the 47th-ranked Harrison to miss out on a match-up with Kyrgios in what would have been his first ATP World Tour final.

The 22-year-old said after both his quarter-final and semi-final wins that he would not lose any sleep if he lost his next match in Brisbane, which was an honest reaction if not exactly something the tournament will run as an advertising slogan next summer.

Expectations are now high ahead of the Australian Open later this month, but Kyrgios' mind is already wandering beyond that to the first round tie against Germany from February 2-4.

Kyrgios will parade the Brisbane International trophy in Brisbane on Monday before heading to Sydney to play in the Fast4 exhibition tournament alongside Hewitt.

Kyrgios staved off five break points in the first set, including three in his third service game as the American Harrison made a terrific fist of dealing with the booming delivery of his opponent. "I love playing in front of you guys (Brisbane spectators) even though sometimes it might not seem like I do", said Kyrgios, who said he liked the idea of being on the Brisbane champions list with Lleyton Hewitt, the 2014 victor.
