Acer says these new Chromebooks are flawless for everyday use with their super portable design and up to 10-hours of battery life. Both the HP Chromebook 14 GS and Chromebook 11 G6 models are based on the 7th generation Intel Celeron N processors. Storage is either 16 GB or 32 GB of eMMC, though of course the expectation is that you'll keep most of your content in Google Drive in the cloud. Meanwhile, its CB311-8H counterpart will use the same LCD panel, but rely on the trackpad for control instead of touch. It will also be powered by Intel Celeron processor and pack USB Type-C ports. There are two USB 3.0 ports and, for the first time, two USB 3.1 Type-C ports. Other specs include Bluetooth 4.2, 2×2 MIMO 802.11ac Wi-Fi, and an HDR camera for video conferencing. These laptops that run Chrome OS can also run Android apps available in the Google Play Store. Still, the device is a slim 0.71 inches thin and only weighs 2.43 pounds, which makes it decent for lugging around to the library and coffee shop like Acer intends you to. A built-in microphone and stereo speakers are ob board too.
If you're after blazing power, you'll definitely want to look elsewhere - this is a Chromebook, after all. Of course, opting for the Acer does mean you miss out on the 360-degree hinge that allows the Pixelbook to convert between a laptop and a tablet. Google's still working on making these apps more Chromebook-friendly, but their simple availability has increased the usefulness of Chromebooks beyond education and basic web browsing.
Availability wise, Acer has said that the Chromebook will appear in the European, Middle Eastern, and African markets in March where the base model will start at €249, before launching in the United States in April for US$249.
