Mad Catz is back with a new trio of gaming peripherals

Mad Catz 2018

In spite of losing so much of its workforce, and some of its specialist divisions like flight stick-maker Saitek, the "new" Mad Catz has retained some of its original design team.

Video game stories from other sites on the web.

Now, the question that remains is whether the new Mad Catz will be able to produce a line of high-quality gaming hardware as it was once known?

After a year in the wilderness, following years of struggles and a bankruptcy filing, gaming peripheral maker Mad Catz is doing a Lazarus.

Mad Catz are also touting new STRIKE keyboards, FREQ headsets, and GLIDE gaming surfaces once these products launch. We'll soon find out at CES 2018. The first is the R.A.T AIR mouse, which is a new, fully adjustable wireless gaming mouse. This includes a "wireless activation gaming surface", which is essentially a large mousepad that provides power to the mouse, meaning you never have to recharge it or change out batteries. A USB cable will be included for those who prefer wired mice, you can also use the cable to charge the mouse if you would rather use your own mouse mat. The Strike 4 is equipped with an aluminum frame and RGB lighting options, while the Freq 4 headset has 40mm drivers and a metal-plated frame.

Early in 2017, peripheral maker Mad Catz announced that it was closing its doors after more than 25 years in business, due to massive company losses since it hedged its bet on Rock Band 4 - which it published and manufactured - and it didn't pay off.

Speaking about the return, Mad Catz' Selena Chang explained that the company firmly believes that its "best days lie ahead".

They still look a little like Christian Bale's "tumbler" Batmobile, built out of lego and laser pens, then. We'll be looking forward to checking out the new Mad Catz gear over the course of the year!
