Katie Nolan comments that Trump is a 'stupid person' were 'inappropriate'

While Nolan's comments occured on a talk show and not on Twitter or Facebook her attempt to quickly explain away her outburst may have been due in part to ESPN's social media guidelines for journalists

Nolan, who recently joined ESPN, made an appearance on Viceland's popular "Desus and Mero" late-night show Wednesday, and called Donald Trump a "f-ing stupid person".

Now, another ESPN employee, Katie Nolan, could be in hot water for her comments regarding the president. We can't be exactly sure what the first thing she called Trump was, as it was bleeped out by Vice.

"That's because he's a f-- stupid person", said Nolan.

Less than three months into her ESPN tenure, Katie Nolan already is testing boundaries at a network that desperately wants its personalities to stick to sports.

ESPN issued revised guidelines on social media and political commentary late past year. After sharing her thoughts about her new role at ESPN, where she's only been since last October after four years with Fox Sports, the topic quickly switched to Trump.

As a result, ESPN spoke with Nolan about her remarks.

One of Nolan's new ESPN colleagues, Jemele Hill, was suspended in October for two weeks (with pay) for repeatedly violating the network's social media guidelines on Twitter.

She also took a random shot at Internet celebrity and "Everyday Struggle" co-host DJ Akademiks as well, who has had a past issue with Desus & Mero.

Commentaries on relevant sports-related issues are appropriate, but we should refrain from overt partisanship or endorsement of particular candidates, politicians or political parties.

In December, ESPN's front-facing employees attended a mandatory meeting at the company's headquarters in Bristol, Conn., to discuss the network's future and review its new policies on social media and political commentary.
