Killed In Saudi-led Airstrikes on Houthi Reinforcements In Yemen

Yemen is in the grip of a humanitarian crisis after almost three years of conflict between Sunni Gulf allies led by Saudi Arabia and Shia rebels supported by Iran

The conflict has killed more than 10,000 people and displaced 2 millions, pushing the country to the verge of starvation.

As Yemen, the Middle East's poorest country, reels under an ongoing three-year military assault by US-armed Saudi Arabia and its allies, the world community watches in increasing alarm as a massive cholera outbreak approaches the million mark and widespread starvation kills thousands of children.

More than 10,000 people have been killed and a humanitarian crisis unleashed in a conflict which has intensified since former President Ali Abdullah Saleh was killed on December 4.

Cholera flared up in April and spread rapidly, killing 2,227 people.

The ICRC said on Wednesday said there were one million suspected cases.

It's probably unavoidable. We need to be ready to face another big epidemic. The places where the war is active are the ones most at risk for increase of disease.

Rebel chief Abdelmalik al-Huthi said Tuesday's attack was timed to coincide with the 1,000th day of the Saudi-led intervention in Yemen's conflict.

The war-torn Arab country has also been suffering from a severe diphtheria outbreak since October.

Saudi Arabia said that since the war began the Houthis had fired 83 ballistic missiles towards the kingdom.

The disease, which has not been seen in Yemen for 25 years, has affected 312 people and killed 35.

Yemen has been under air and ground attack by Saudi Arabia and its allies since March 2015, a conflict that has so far killed more than 10,000 people, more than half of them are civilians, according to worldwide aid agencies.

The rebel-run Saba press agency said 38 people, including women and children, were killed or wounded in raids targeting different parts of Yemen.

First, the number of cholera cases in the current outbreak has followed in line with ICRC Yemen delegation head Alexandre Faite's prediction in late September-"Considering the figures I was given in the past, we could be to one million at the end of the year".

Coalition air raids killed 43 Huthi fighters in the Red Sea province of Hodeida in the past day alone, amid a push by pro-government forces to advance toward a key port there, medical and military sources said.
