Ford sues John Cena for selling his Ford GT

Ford GT'Ambassador sells his car- Ford SUES

The GT is, of course, highly desirable, but Ford doesn't want to see owners buy and flip the auto to make a profit of it when that money could've been theirs-hence the two-years-of-ownership clause.

Ford is suing actor and WWE wrestler John Cena of selling his new Ford GT within weeks of taking possession of the auto, which goes against the terms and conditions Ford says he signed up for when he purchased the vehicle.

Supercar manufacturers like Porsche, Ferrari, and Aston Martin have similarly begun cracking down on these profiteers, and often won't sell such buyers new cars again.

One such lucky buyer of the Ford GT was American wrestler and sometime actor John Cena (not a particularly familiar name this side of the Pond), a man with a high profile in the United States and who Ford assumed would cast a big celebrity halo over the GT.

Ford had utterly insane amounts of interest in the third-generation hypercar, so much that it made prospective buyers send in applications as to why they would be the kind of brand ambassadors Ford wanted driving their halo vehicle. But it's all gone a bit Pete Tong.

Why do you think John Cena sold his Ford GT? In the lawsuit, Ford makes several mentions of Cena reaping a large profit on the sale, but that number is never disclosed.

It seems Cena took delivery of his vehicle in September, but sold it just a month later for an undisclosed - and we must assume fairly significant - profit.

Ford also claims that it contacted Cena to try to settle the matter out of court, but got the cold shoulder - hence the legal mess that has followed.

Ford are seeking all the profit Cena made from the vehicle plus damages amounting to around £55,000 ($75k).
