Clippers' Austin Rivers fined $25K for verbal outburst toward fan

Austin Rivers to Clippers Fan: 'Shut the F**k Up'

NBA executive vice president of basketball operations Kiki Van De Weghe said Rivers had been fined for "directing inappropriate comments toward a fan". He will be out for at least six weeks and probably eight with the sprained knee he suffered in Monday's game against the Los Angeles Lakers.

With L.A. on its way to a 126-107 home loss to the Jazz last night, Austin Rivers confronted a courtside fan.

According to ClutchPoints reporter Tomar Azarly, Rivers claimed that this fan was cheering on the team for the first half of the game, but had a change of heart in the second as the team was losing.

Rivers certainly didn't give the fan a reason to chirp him, as the 25-year-old scored a team-high 25 points.

He then can be heard using an expletive while telling the fan to shut up.

With rumors of Doc Rivers also being on the hot seat amidst all of this, you can't help but wonder what on Earth is going on in Los Angeles.

"I didn't handle it the best way", Rivers said before the Clippers played the at. "This is the message I want to say". "But, at the end, I was sticking up for my teammate".

Friday, during one of the team's media availability sessions, Rivers expressed contrition for dressing down the court-side fan.
