Nintendo to start offering in-game power-ups via cereal boxes

Nintendo and Kellogg's Officially Announce Super Mario Cereal News Super Mario Odyssey Super Mario Cereal Nintendo

Nintendo explains: "With Super Mario Cereal, Nintendo and Kellogg's have teamed up to take fans on a breakfast odyssey that will continue long after the cereal box is empty".

Super Mario Cereal, a mixed berry cereal with marshmallows, will start hitting store shelves across the U.S.as early as December 11, and the limited-edition box will indeed function as an Amiibo-the box's Amiibo functionality will even allow players to unlock in-game rewards.

Super Mario Cereal won't be a permanent addition to the cereal aisle, mind you - these boxes are considered to be limited edition. "The package adds value and excitement for fans, with marshmallow shapes in the cereal inspired by Super Mario power-ups to tie the theme together".

Nintendo for the first time in 28 years, as officially endorsed the new Super Mario Cereal. The two companies already have a relationship for Nintendo-themed food.

We still have a month to go and Super Mario Odyssey could still be dethroned by Mario Kart 8 Deluxe or Breath of the Wild, but the latest solo Mario adventure now has a firm grasp as the top video game sold by the mega e-tailer in 2017. The product was discontinued in 1989. Needless to say, Nintendo and Kellogg's go way back, and are not new to close marketing partnerships with each other. Such unique advertisement is the launch of a cereal brand named Super Mario Cereal, clearly aiming for the promotion of Super Mario Odyssey. It is not yet known what function the cereal box amiibo will serve.

Will you try and get your hands on a box of Super Mario Cereal? Great for kids, and the adults that love Super Mario.
