A former foreign policy adviser to Donald Trump's presidential campaign told the House Intelligence Committee that his trip to Russian Federation previous year was approved by a former Trump campaign manager and that he also informed other campaign officials-including one who holds a powerful position in the White House-about the potential visit.

At one point during Page's six hours of questioning, the top Democrat on the committee brought up an email Page sent to campaign officials promising to send a "readout soon regarding some incredible insights and outreach I received from a few Russian legislators and senior members of the Presidential administration here".

The New York Times first reported that Page notified campaign officials about his meetings in Moscow, but the transcript, which is more than 200 pages long, discloses the names of those advisers - Tera Dahl and J.D. Gordon - and the identity of the Russian official, Dvorkovich. Reporter: We now know the official he was referring to was actually the Russian deputy prime minister at the time page wrote that he, quote, ex??ressed strong support for Mr. Trump and a desire to work together toward devising better solutions in response to a vast range of current global problems.

Page wrote in a July 2016 email to Trump campaign aides that Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich "expressed strong support for Mr. Trump and a desire to work together toward devising better solutions in response to a vast range of current global problems", according to a transcript of more than six hours of testimony Page gave last week before a House of Representatives committee investigating Russian interference in the US election.

It's always been known that Page traveled to Moscow in July 2016, but he has said it was in his private capacity, unrelated to his role with the Trump campaign. Page said he did not recall the email until a reporter from The Washington Post told him about it in August of this year.

Page also confirmed that he "possibly" had contacted the head of investor relations at the Russian oil company Rosneft in advance of his July 2016 visit. Papadopoulos and Page both served as members of candidate Donald Trump's foreign policy committee.

A spokeswoman for Sessions declined to comment; Clovis' attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment Monday night.

Page said in his testimony that he had "very limited" interaction with Papadopoulos as a fellow Trump adviser.

The latest on the Russian Federation investigation.

In numerous public interviews, Page has always denied he met with other Russian officials, notably with Igor Sechin, a Putin associate.

That didn't stop him from traveling to Russian Federation again in December 2016.

The most common theme in Page's testimony was a relentless pivoting towards the dossier compiled by Steele, which he says has led to death threats.

Mary, we know who that official is now.

Page's Russian contacts did not end on his return from Moscow.

Under questioning from Rep. Adam Schiff of California, the committee's senior Democrat, Page said he sent a memo to the Trump campaign stating that "Dvorkovich expressed strong support for Mr. Trump and a desire to work together toward devising better solutions in response to the vast range of current worldwide problems".

Papadopoulos also told his superiors on the campaign that he was being offered "dirt" on Democratic rival Hillary Clinton and "off the record" meetings with Russian leaders - which, according to court documents, he was encouraged to pursue.

He also acknowledged a separate trip to Moscow in December 2016 and an early September 2016 trip to Budapest for meetings with Hungarian government officials, the details of which he would not elaborate.
