Swedish journalist Kim Wall's severed head found in Copenhagen Bay

The headless torso of Swedish journalist Kim Wall was found floating in waters off Copenhagen

Danish police said yesterday that divers had recovered the decapitated head and the legs of Swedish journalist Kim Wall, who vanished in August while interviewing a Danish inventor aboard his homemade submarine.

Wall, a 30-year-old freelance journalist who was researching a story on Peter Madsen, went missing after he took her out to sea in his 17-metre submarine on August 10.

Danish divers looking for the remains of Swedish journalist Kim Wall, whose torso washed ashore in Copenhagen this summer, made a gruesome discovery Friday nearby in Køge Bay. The cause of her death has not been determined.

After Wall's boyfriend reported her missing, police opened an investigation. "And then we found a head that also laid in a bag, and was weighed down with multiple metal pieces".

Suspect Peter Madsen, have been remanded in custody, said Valle died after accidentally hitting a heavy hatch on a submarine.

He was later charged with manslaughter, which in Danish law is the legal equivalent of murder.

As reported in Denmark, brought to the surface the world's largest private submarine Nautilus sank South of Copenhagen on August 11. Police believe he deliberately scuttled the vessel. The inventor originally claimed he had dropped Wall off on land on the night of August 10, according to a police statement.

Madsen was later captured and held in guardianship on doubt of murdering Wall. The next pre-trial hearing is scheduled for October 31.

Divider, an alum of Columbia University and London School of Economics, was based amongst Beijing and NY.

Wall studied at the Sorbonne University in Paris, the London School of Economics and at Columbia University in NY, where she graduated with a master's degree in journalism in 2013. A talented writer, her work appeared in The New York Times, the Guardian and TIME, among publications.
