"SNL's" season premiere featured one of the most hilariously freaky sketches ever

The actor kick-started the season 43 of "Saturday Night Live" and gave fans one of the most hilarious sketches in 'SNL's recent history. "At this rate, we're only a few years away from Freddy vs Healthcare...which really scares me because we all know who dies first in those movies". They include "The Chaos President" cold open, Ryan Gosling's jazz monologue, and much more.

In the "Another Close Encounter" sketch, McKinnon's character recounted how her second abduction was much more graphic and very bad than fellow survivors (played by Gosling and Cecily Strong). It's hurricane relief. These people need help.

"I haven't felt this excited since I saved jazz", Gosling deadpanned at the top of the monologue. "I mean, I was like - me, Ryan Gosling?". Thanks to Gosling's ample experience with weird moments of high drama (see also Lars and the Real Girl) there's a lot of authenticity in his delivery.

"Can I speak to you just for a second?" The two have great chemistry - they shared a load of screen time last season during the Trump/Clinton presidential race, so it's great to see them together again, though in a different capacity. And I'm sure there will be plenty of viewers who thought the filmed bit featuring Gosling as a man with an unhealthy obsession with James Cameron using "Papyrus" font for Avatar was the most interminable of all, but I laughed at that one, darnit.

In this sequel sketch, Kate McKinnon got all up in Gosling's butt like "shoppers storming a Walmart on Black Friday".

As for the musical guest, JAY-Z is always going to be a draw just because of his status as one of the biggest rappers of all time.

Bobby Moynihan didn't return to Saturday Night Live for the 43rd season.

Saturday's show also provided ample space for McKinnon and the show's longest-serving cast member, Kenan Thompson, to show off their comedic chops. Playing the Central Intelligence Agency agent along with Aidy Bryant is Mikey Day.
